Virginia Luque
classical guitarist & conductor

Estampas Latinas is an homage to the Argentinian composer & Guitarist Maestro Jorge Morel. He is an exciting composer that brings his Argentinian roots to the frontline. His music is full of classical lyrical expression, with the persistence on the folk rhythms of his beloved country. It is a double album that comprises my premier commissioned works, along with other recording premieres, a Duet piece with guest artist Sergio Assad as well as revised updates of his most popular renditions.

Danza de Medianoche This is an Homage to the Cuban composer & Guitarist Maestro Leo Brouwer. He is a descriptive composer who views and reveals the emotions of the Cuban people under his signature expression. It is a journey through the essence of rhythmical patterns and musical surprises. This is a double album that premieres my commissioned piece Danza de Medianoche, as well as other premier recordings and most of his beloved and well known compositions.

Goldberg Variations for Guitar Listener’s reviews from music lovers that purchased the cd: “The richness of vigor and color of Bach's Goldberg Variations are never more dramatically evident than when listening to Virginia Luque play them on her Hauser. Every variation is a unique journey, something new and exciting to be discovered in every measure! When listening to the colors she brings out in the heavenly Aria, or the mournful adagio of V25, or the mind boggling toccata of V28, rediscovering the Goldberg on her guitar is a timeless and precious gift.” - K.K

I found this recording to be a joyful and absorbing re-interpretation of the Variations.   Since I first loaded the cd I have found it difficult to stop playing it. Through her deep artistry and astonishing technique Virginia has adapted these pieces for guitar in an entirely musical and natural way.  Anyone who is familiar with the famous keyboard interpretations will find new ways to enjoy this great music.  Anyone who studies or is familiar with modern classical guitar will be amazed.” - P. Virginia Luque's new arrangement of Bach's Goldberg Variations is a modern marvel. The brilliance of the arrangement is matched only by the flawless performance. Were it not so technically challenging I believe it would become standard repertoire for all guitarists.” - C.A

While listening to Virginia Luque’s Goldberg Variations, a thought crossed my mind: "She breathes through her instrument." The range of emotions she evokes is breathtaking, from joy and excitement to contemplation and sadness. I could hear her love and understanding of Bach across the thousands of guitar strokes, punctuated and nuanced to express complex lines and driving motion.  Once I started listening, I could not stop. I felt like I was being taken to a different place, a place I love being in. Thank you Ms. Luque!” - M.G

All About Bach - Voume I - Johann Sebastian Bach publicly shared that his compositions were written for the Glory of God, as he indicated S.D.G ( Soli Deo Gloria ) to each score. No matter what your personal perspective, one has to agree that Bach’s music can connect on a spiritual level. He has provided some of the most glorious perfection ever created in music. Despite whatever trial Bach endured in his personal life, his genius found expression in a variety of musical languages.

The following selections are a small example of his “Universal Gifts”, compiled in this first volume of our beloved Bach. All Suites, Sonatas and Partitas, although written for other instruments have been transcribed for the guitar.

Homage To Agustín Barrios - Live from the National Opera Center.

Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885-1944) was a Paraguayan guitarist and composer. Revered as one of the greatest guitarists and composers of the century. His music was not discovered until three decades after his death and only about one hundred of his pieces, a third of his collection, have survived, along with gramophone recordings of his guitar mastery. Many of his pieces draw from Latin American folklore and some from romantic or baroque styles. All are technically demanding and hauntingly beautiful.
